Countdown to 2020 Miami: Super Bowl LII

The matchup for Super Bowl LIV in Miami is officially set! As the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers prepare for their 2020 matchup at Hard Rock Stadium in Super Bowl 54, we’re looking back at a classic — Super Bowl LII.

Philly Special

Played once again in a cold-weather city, the first Super Bowl in the brand-new U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota, would feature the New England Patriots taking on the NFC-champion Philadelphia Eagles. A back-and-forth offensive battle, the Eagles would put together one of the more spectacular Super Bowl performances, shutting down Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in the waning minutes of the game to walk away as Super Bowl LII champions, 41-33.

Super Bowl LII was a record-breaking Super Bowl in many varieties, including most years gained by both teams in one game (1,151), fewest combined punts (one), and most points scored by a losing team in the Super Bowl (33). Eagles quarterback Nick Foles would complete his improbable Super Bowl run with MVP honors in Super Bowl LII, finishing the game 28-of-43 for 373, three touchdowns and one interception, as well as a one-yard touchdown reception on the play dubbed the “Philly Special.”

The broadcast of the game on NBC had the smallest Super Bowl audience in nine years, with an average of 103.4 million viewers. Average TV viewership for the halftime show, headlined by Justin Timberlake, was 106.6 million American television viewers, 9 percent less than the previous year.

What to Bring | 2020 Super Bowl 54 in Miami

The 2020 Super Bowl LIV matchups is just a matter of hours from being set — which means it’s almost time to solidify your plans for Miami and a Super Bowl weekend trip of a lifetime! Here’s a few things to remember when packing and planning for Super Bowl weekend at Super Bowl 54:

Be Comfortable

Super Bowl 54 is in the always beautiful Miami, Florida, which means Super Bowl weekend guests should prepare for the elements — beautiful, sometimes humid, often rainy weather. Early forecasts are calling for a mild-and-potentially-wet Super Bowl weekend the MIA, so make sure you pack comfortable clothes, prepare for both dry and wet weather situations, and bring that rain jacket.

Be a Fan!

Unless you’re going to the Super Bowl strictly to see Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, you’re going to need your gear. And whether you’re a face-painting, shirtless, hair-dyed super fan, or just an every day, jersey-sporting loyal “true blue,” there is no better place and time to represent your team than Super Bowl weekend.

When you’re packing, it’s key to make sure your squad is going to be properly represented, even if they’re not playing or haven’t been for years. They’re your squad, your city.. it’s time to represent. So pack that Cleveland Browns jersey, fly those Atlanta Falcons colors, represent the Patriots faithful.. this is your time to shine.

Tickets, Tickets, Tickets!

Of course, you’re going to need tickets to the game. Don’t try to show up without them!

Bullseye’s Super Bowl 54 Travel Packages don’t just come with a ticket to the game, but to an entire Super Bowl weekend experience! Secure your tickets, 2020 Players Tailgate passes and more today!

Capture the Best Moments

Granted, you don’t go anywhere without your phone — neither do we. But you have to be prepared to capture all the Super Bowl weekend moments!

Between the Players Tailgate, Guy Fieri whipping up the menu and Super Bowl weekend being the most star-studded weekend in sports, it’s almost a given that you’re going to run into actors, celebrities, players and some of your favorite sports personalities. That’s why not only should you bring your phone, but bring a back-up battery or portable charger as well. Nobody’s going to believe you met Jimmy Fallon at your hotel or had dinner at the same place as Vince Vaughn if you don’t have a selfie with him, right?

Follow NFL’s Clear Plastic Bag Rules

The NFL has strict “Clear Plastic Bag” rules to help protect fans and ensure the safety of Super Bowl 54 at Hard Rock Stadium. There are certain things you can’t bring into the game, and none of it can be in big, bulky bags or fanny-packs. Items such as alcohol, fireworks, beach balls and noisemakers are not allowed in the stadium. For more information on what is/isn’t allowed inside of NFL Stadiums and what type of bag you may bring in, click here.

Countdown to 2020 Miami: Super Bowl LI

The 2020 Super Bowl in Miami is almost here, with the Road to Super Bowl LIV making it’s way through San Francisco and Kansas City for the AFC and NFC Championship games this weekend!

Making their fourth Super Bowl appearance in five years, the New England Patriots were winners in 2017, a remarkable comeback victory against the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI.

A Comeback for the History Books

Despite jumping out to a 28-3 lead early, the Atlanta Falcons would fall capture to one of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s signature comebacks, with the Patriots completing the most improbably comeback in Super Bowl history, a 34-28 victory in the first ever Super Bowl overtime.

Brady would walk away with Super Bowl MVP honors once again, tossing 466 yards and two touchdowns in a game that Patriots owner Robert Kraft would call “unequivocally the sweetest” Super Bowl victory of the Patriots’ dominant dynasty.

An average of 111.3 million viewers caught Super Bowl LI on FOX, and the cost of a 30-second spot stayed at the $5 million asking price from Super Bowl 50. Lady Gaga would perform a legendary halftime show at Houston’s NRG Stadium.

Road to Super Bowl 54: Divisional Weekend

The Road to Super Bowl 54 in Miami is officially down to eight teams, after what truly was a “wild” card weekend. A quick look at the divisional weekend matchups as we prepare to narrow the field down to the final four.

(6) Minnesota Vikings at (1) San Francisco 49ers — Saturday, January 11, 4:35 p.m. ET on NBC

“A week’s worth of discussion about, yes, running games. This game will feature two of the NFL’s six most productive rushing offenses based on yards. The Vikings are especially dependent on the presence of tailback Dalvin Cook, who has scored 10 touchdowns in their 11 victories and three in their six losses.” — Kevin Seifert, ESPN.com

(6) Tennessee Titans at (1) Baltimore Ravens — Saturday, January 11, 8:15 p.m. ET on CBS

“This game will come down to the quarterbacks… or maybe it won’t. That’s because each side boasts a fantastic rushing attack, with one coming from multiple contributors, and the other carried by one hulking pair of shoulders. History is on the side of Tennessee’s Derrick Henry, as each of the three prior postseason meetings between a team with the NFL’s leader rusher and the league’s best rushing offense have all been won by the former.” — Nick Shook, NFL.com

(4) Houston Texans at (2) Kansas City Chiefs — Sunday, January 12, 3:05 p.m. ET on CBS

“In Week 6 in Kansas City, Houston beat the Chiefs, 31-24. Carlos Hyde had a huge game for the Texans, rushing for 116 yards and a touchdown, and QB Deshaun Watson rushed for two TDs of his own. The Texans, who benefited from Buffalo QB Josh Allen’s inaccuracy in the wild-card win over the Bills, will have no such luxury against the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes, who has a 65.9 completion percentage. Kansas City’s defense is much improved since the first meeting.

The Chiefs finished the regular season with the league’s seventh-best scoring defense, up from 24th last season. That said, the Chiefs are 29th in the league in yards per carry allowed (4.9) but are fifth best in net yards per passing attempt allowed ( 5.7). Mahomes’ numbers (4,031 yards passing, 26 TDs) weren’t as eye-popping as his 2018 MVP campaign, but he was better at protecting the ball, throwing just five interceptions. The Chiefs have held three of their past five opponents under 10 points.” — Chris Mueller, YardBarker

(5) Seattle Seahawks at (2) Green Bay Packers — Sunday, January 12, 6:40 p.m. ET on FOX

“These teams have had some legendary and meaningful matchups. In the 2003 postseason, the Packers won an overtime matchup on a pick-six. In 2012, the Seahawks won the “Fail Mary” game on Monday Night Football. In the 2014 NFC Championship Game, the Seahawks came back from a 12-point deficit to win in overtime. This time, they’ll play for the right to advance to the 2019 NFC Championship Game.” — Kevin Seifert, ESPN.com

Countdown to 2020 Miami: Super Bowl 50

After this weekend’s 2019 NFL Divisional games, we’ll officially have our final four on the Road to Super Bowl 54 in Miami! Two teams on the outside-looking-in, the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos, headline our latest in the countdown, with a Super Bowl 50 matchup in California.

‘The Sheriff’ Leaves a Champion

The Denver Broncos walked away Super Bowl 50 champions, 24-10 winners over the Carolina Panthers. And after a season that saw turmoil following injury, former Indianapolis Colt Peyton Manning walked away with his second Super Bowl victory in what would ultimately be his final game of his career.

“All I know is, I’m going to go out tonight and drink a lot of beer…drink a lot of Budweiser,” Manning said to CBS Sports analyst Jim Nantz when asked about pondering retirement.

Despite being Manning’s final game as a player, it was the Broncos defense that stepped up and dominated the game. Broncos linebacker Von Miller, who would go on to be named Super Bowl 50 MVP, recorded six tackles, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble, which ended up leading to the game-clinching touchdown for the Broncos.

Carolina Panthers quarterback and league MVP Cam Newton, who had been phenomenal all season, struggled in Super Bowl 50, garnering only 265 yards and one interception on 18-of-41 passing. Newton was hurried over 20 times in the game, being hit 10 times and sacked 7 times.

Road to Miami: Super Bowl 54 Playoff Picture

The 2019 NFL regular season is officially coming to an end, which means it’s almost time for the Road to Super Bowl 54 in Miami to officially begin. With all 32 teams in action for the final time in Week 17, there are still plenty of seeding question marks left to be answered. A quick look at the 2019 playoff picture heading into the final week of the regular season.

NFC

All of the NFC’s playoff spots have been solidified, with, like the AFC, the seeding left in play for Week 17. The final dominoes, however, are the NFC East and West.

The Philadelphia Eagles control their own destiny — win on Sunday against the Giants, and they’re secured on the path to the Super Bowl. However, a loss opens the door for the rival Dallas Cowboys, who can secure the final playoff spot with a win and a Philadelphia loss.

Countdown to 2020 Miami: Super Bowl XLVIII

With the NFL’s regular season coming to an end this weekend, the playoffs are almost officially set, and we’re one step closer to Super Bowl 54 in Miami. Heading back to 2014, the now Peyton Manning-led Denver Broncos would square off against Russell Wilson’s Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLVIII.

Legion of Boom

In the first of quarterback Peyton Manning’s two Super Bowl visits post-Indianapolis Colts, the Denver Broncos took on the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Despite being an outdoor Super Bowl in a cold-weather city, there were nearly 83,000 fans in attendance for the big game!

Seahawks linebacker Malcom Smith would break the streak of quarterback MVP’s, earning Super Bowl XLVIII honors with a strong performance. Smith finished the game with nine tackles, a recovered fumble and an interception returned 69 yards for a touchdown.

Super Bowl XLVIII went down in the record books as the largest-watched event in the history of television, broadcast on FOX to over 167 million viewers. Announcers Joe Buck, Troy Aikman, Pam Oliver and Erin Andrews would handle broadcasting duties, and the cost of a 30-second spot would jump to $4 million. Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers would be cast for Super Bowl halftime duties in 2014.
