2019 Indianapolis Colts Schedule Preview: Weeks 11-16

The 2019 NFL season schedule is officially set, with each team knowing the road that they face if they want to contend for Super Bowl 54 in Miami. A closer look at the season schedule for the 2019 Indianapolis Colts squad.

Week 11: vs. Jacksonville Jaguars | Nov. 17, 1:00 p.m. ET on CBS

One of the “first to worst” stories of the 2018 season, the defending 2017 AFC South champion and AFC Championship runner-up Jacksonville Jaguars finished at the bottom of the division in 2018 at 5-11.

The addition of Super Bowl LII MVP quarterback Nick Foles this offseason brings hope to a Jacksonville franchise starved for decent quarterbacking play in recent years. This is the first of two matchups against the division-rival Jaguars in the final six weeks of the season.

Week 12: @ Houston Texans | (THURS) Nov. 21, 8:20 p.m. ET on FOX

The defending AFC South champions in 2018 (11-5), the division rival Houston Texans host the Colts in Week 12 for the second of two matchups against the Colts in 2019, in what is also a rematch of the 2018 NFL Wild Card matchup.

A relatively quiet offseason for the Texans, aside from franchise-tagging defensive pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney and signing of safety Tashaun Gipson from Jacksonville, the Texans hope the continued health of quarterback Deshaun Watson and the return of wide receiver Will Fuller will help them take that next step.

Week 13: vs. Tennessee Titans | Dec. 1, 1:00 p.m. ET on CBS

After a 9-7 campaign in 2018 that saw the team missing the playoffs, the Tennessee Titans will travel to Lucas Oil Stadium to face the Colts in Week 13, the second of the team’s two matchups this season. The Titans return their core, with their most notable offseason acquisitions being a trade for former Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who will presumably play backup to Marcus Mariota, and the signing of defensive edge Cameron Wake, among others.

Week 14: @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Dec. 8, 1:00 p.m. ET on CBS

A new era of Buccaneers football as former Arizona Cardinals head coach (and one-time Colts interim HC) Bruce Arians is now at the helm of the team that finished the 2018 season at 5-11, dead last in the NFC South.

Quarterback Jameis Winston returns following a tumultuous season in 2018, with new additions on the defensive front in defensive tackle Ndamukong Such and first-round draft pick Devin White (LB, LSU). Arians, known for getting the most of his teams, will be looking to turn this Tampa Bay squad around and give the franchise a new, meaningful direction.

Week 15: @ New Orleans Saints | (MON) Dec. 16, 8:15 p.m. ET on ESPN

Arguably one of the best matchups of the 2019 NFL season, the Colts will travel to the historic Mercedes-Benz Superdome to face one of the most prolific offenses in the NFL in the New Orleans Saints.

Finishing at 13-3 and runners-up in the NFC, just one play from reaching the Super Bowl in 2019, the Saints roster remains largely in-tact from last season. Key departures of players like running back Mark Ingram are softened by keeping key playmakers like Alvin Kamara around, who will now see the lion share of the carries.

Week 16: vs. Carolina Panthers | Dec. 22, 1:00 p.m. ET on FOX

A disappointing 7-9 campaign for the Carolina Panthers in 2018, the Colts will face a franchise on the cusp of deciding between an overhaul and continuing with their core group in Week 16.

Quarterback Cam Newton, coming off an offseason shoulder injury and supplemental questions regarding his ability to play in 2019, returns to the team, with a roster that remains largely untouched in the 2019 offseason. The departure of wide receiver Devin Funchess (now on the Colts roster) leaves the team without any real receiving threats aside from signing New England’s Chris Hogan, however the acquisitions of rookie defensive edge Brian Burns and pass rusher Bruce Irvin will look to give the Colts offensive line fits.

Week 17: @ Jacksonville Jaguars | Dec. 29, 1:00 p.m.

This is the second of two matchups against the division-rival Jaguars in the final six weeks of the season.

2019 Indianapolis Colts Schedule Preview: Weeks 1-5

The 2019 NFL season schedule is officially set, with each team knowing the road that they face if they want to contend for Super Bowl 54 in Miami. A closer look at the season schedule for the 2019 Indianapolis Colts squad.

Week 1: @ Los Angeles Chargers | Sept. 8, 4:05 p.m. ET on CBS

The Indianapolis Colts will begin their season on the west coast with a 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff time, facing the other AFC Wild Card of last season in the Los Angeles Chargers.

Los Angeles returns their core squad, with quarterback Philip Rivers leading the charge and two exciting new defensive challenges in rookie defensive tackle Jerry Tillery (Notre Dame) and safety Nasir Adderley (Delaware), among others.

Week 2: @ Tennessee Titans | Sept. 15, 1:00 p.m. ET on CBS

After a 9-7 campaign in 2018 that saw the team missing the playoffs, the Tennessee Titans will play host to the Colts in Week 2, the first of the team’s two matchups this season. The Titans return their core, with their most notable offseason acquisitions being a trade for former Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who will presumably play backup to Marcus Mariota, and the signing of defensive edge Cameron Wake, among others.

Week 3: vs. Atlanta Falcons | Sept. 22, 1:00 p.m. ET on CBS

Despite their home city playing host to the Super Bowl this past season, the Atlanta Falcons finished with a 7-9 record and missed the playoffs in a 2018 campaign that can only be described as “disappointing.”

The Colts will face Atlanta in their home opener in Week 3, facing a Falcons squad whose roster remained largely untouched in this past offseason.

Week 4: vs. Oakland Raiders | Sept. 29, 1:00 p.m. ET on CBS

One of the most talked about teams of the 2019 NFL offseason, the Oakland Raiders, new general manager Mike Mayock and head coach Jon Gruden have dedicated the team to a near complete roster turnover after a 4-12 season in 2018.

Their second-straight week at home, the Colts host the Raiders at Lucas Oil Stadium in Week 4, facing a Raiders team with dynamic new playmakers (both in free agency signings and the 2019 NFL Draft), including defensive edge Clelin Ferrell (Clemson), running back Josh Jacobs (Alabama) and safety Johnathan Abram (Mississippi State).

Week 5: @Kansas City Chiefs | Oct. 6, 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC

Arguably the matchup of the season for both Colts and Kansas City Chiefs fans alike, this divisional playoff rematch from 2018 will be a primetime affair, taking place on NBC’s Sunday Night Football in Week 5.

The Chiefs are coming off a season of incredible success and simultaneous turnover, with running back Kareem Hunt being released following legal troubles and wide receiver Tyreek Hill be placed on leave. Kansas City also sent defensive edge Dee Ford to San Francisco, to only turn around send multiple draft picks to the Seattle Seahawks for pass rusher Frank Clark, and signed safety Tyrann Mathieu.
