2018 Super Bowl Countdown: Super Bowl LI

A Super Bowl for the history books. The final spot in our ‘Countdown to Super Bowl 52,’ a look back at Super Bowl LI in Houston between the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons.

February 5, 2017

Despite jumping out to a 28-3 lead early, the Atlanta Falcons would fall capture to one of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s signature comebacks, with the Patriots completing the most improbably comeback in Super Bowl history, a 34-28 victory in the first ever Super Bowl overtime.

Brady would walk away with Super Bowl MVP honors once again, tossing 466 yards and two touchdowns in a game that Patriots owner Robert Kraft would call “unequivocally the sweetest” Super Bowl victory of the Patriots’ dominant dynasty.

An average of 111.3 million viewers caught Super Bowl LI on FOX, and the cost of a 30-second spot stayed at the $5 million asking price from Super Bowl 50. Lady Gaga would perform a legendary halftime show at Houston’s NRG Stadium.

2018 Super Bowl Countdown: Super Bowl 50

One week from kicking off Super Bowl 52 and the 2018 Players Tailgate in Minneapolis! We’re heading back to two years ago; Super Bowl 50, between the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers.

The Denver Broncos walked away Super Bowl 50 champions, 24-10 winners over the Carolina Panthers. And in a season that saw turmoil following injury, former Indianapolis Colt Peyton Manning walked away with his second Super Bowl victory, in what would be his final game of his career.

“All I know is, I’m going to go out tonight and drink a lot of beer…drink a lot of Budweiser,” Manning said to CBS Sports analyst Jim Nantz when asked about pondering retirement.

Despite being Manning’s final game as a player, it was the Broncos defense that stepped up and dominated the game. Broncos linebacker Von Miller, who would go on to be named Super Bowl 50 MVP, recorded six tackles, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble, which ended up leading to the game-clinching touchdown for the Broncos.

Carolina Panthers quarterback and league MVP Cam Newton, who had been phenomenal all season, struggled in Super Bowl 50, garnering only 265 yards and one interception on 18-of-41 passing. Newton was hurried over 20 times in the game, being hit 10 times and sacked 7 times.

The New England Patriots would walk away victors of Super Bowl XLIX, a final score of 28-24. Over 70,000 people showed up for this game on February 1, 2015 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

Tom Brady, quarterback for the Patriots, was the MVP of Super Bowl XLIX. He set a Super Bowl record for 37 completions on 50 attempts for 328 yards. This resulted in two touchdowns and two interceptions. This was the Seahawks second consecutive appearance at the Super Bowl. Super Bowl 52 Guide: What to Bring

Congratulations, you’re heading to the Super Bowl! But now it’s time to prepare and do that one thing that everyone can’t stand—figuring out what to pack and take with you. But fear not, Bullseye has you covered with a complete guide to what you should expect to bring to Super Bowl 52 weekend in Minneapolis, Minnesota!

Dress Warm

Super Bowl 52 in Minneapolis is the first Super Bowl since Super Bowl XLVIII in New York to take place in a cold-weather city. Early forecasts call for dry (but chilly) weather Super Bowl weekend, so come prepared. Make sure to bring your heavy jacket, some stylish sweaters and pullovers, and plenty of hats and gloves.

Be A Fan!

Unless you’re going to the Super Bowl strictly to see Justin Timberlake, you’re going to need your gear. And whether you’re a face-painting, shirtless, hair-dyed super fan, or just an every day, jersey-sporting loyal true blue, there is no better place and time to represent your team than Super Bowl weekend.

When you’re packing, it’s key to make sure your squad is going to be properly represented, even if they’re not playing or haven’t been for years. They’re your squad, your city.. it’s time to represent. So pack that Cleveland Browns jersey, fly those Atlanta Falcons colors.. this is your time to shine.

Tickets, Tickets, Tickets

Of course, you’re going to need tickets to the game. Don’t try to show up without them!

Bullseye’s Super Bowl 52 Travel Packages don’t just come with a ticket to the game, but to an entire Super Bowl weekend experience! Secure your tickets, 2018 Players Tailgate passes and more today!

Capture the Moments

Granted, you don’t go anywhere without your phone. Neither do we. But you have to be prepared to capture all the Super Bowl weekend moments!

Between the Players Tailgate, Guy Fieri whipping up the menu and Super Bowl weekend being the most star-studded weekend in sports, it’s almost a given that you’re going to run into actors, celebrities, players and some of your favorite sports personalities. That’s why not only should you bring your phone, but bring a back-up battery or portable charger as well. Nobody’s going to believe you met Jimmy Fallon at your hotel if you don’t have a selfie with him, right?

Follow Clear Plastic Bag Rules

The NFL has strict “Clear Plastic Bag” rules to help protect fans and ensure the safety of Super Bowl 52 at U.S. Bank Stadium. There are certain things you can’t bring into the game, and none of it can be in big, bulky bags or fanny-packs. Items such as alcohol, fireworks, beach balls and noisemakers are not allowed in the stadium. For more information on what is/isn’t allowed inside of NFL Stadiums and what type of bag you may bring in, click here.

Road to Super Bowl 52: Championship Sunday

The divisional round of the NFL Playoffs are widely considered one of the best weekends in football, and the 2018 edition did not disappoint. And now, as we begin the final approach on the Road to Super Bowl 52, we’re on to Championship Sunday in the NFL.

AFC Championship: Jacksonville Jaguars @ New England Patriots

(Sunday, 3:05 p.m. ET on CBS)

After man handling the Tennessee Titans on Saturday night, quarterback Tom Brady and the New England Patriots would go on to advance to their 7th-straight AFC Championship performance, once again being hosted at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. Their opponent, however, is the surprise of the 2017 NFL season.

A Sunday afternoon thriller, the Jacksonville Jaguars (yes, you read that right), would defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers 45-42 to advance to their first AFC Championship game since 1999. The defense having been the story of the season for the Jaguars, it was the team’s offense that would make the difference on Sunday, with running back Leonard Fournette gaining 109 yards on the ground and rushing for three touchdowns. Quarterback Blake Bortles, long criticized for his play, threw for 214 yards and one touchdown, with no turnovers.

NFC Championship: Minnesota Vikings @ Philadelphia Eagles

(Sunday, 6:40 p.m. ET on CBS)

Despite a season-ending injury to MVP candidate quarterback Carson Wentz in the regular season, the Philadelphia Eagles took care of business on Saturday against the defending NFC champion Atlanta Falcons, walking away 15-10 victors and advancing to their first NFC Championship game since 2008. Wentz’ replacement, QB Nick Foles, would throw for 246 yards but no scores, with running back LaGarrette Blount adding the only touchdown of the game for Philly.

Saved by the “Minneapolis Miracle,” the #2-seeded Minnesota Vikings were the improbable winners in what was inarguably the best game of divisional weekend. After leading 17-0 early in the first half, the New Orleans Saints had clawed their way back into the game, leading 24-23 after a late field goal. Driving with just one timeout and 75-yards to go, quarterback Case Keenum and the Vikings offense began their march with just seconds on the clock. After a couple of short plays, Keenum completed a pass to wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who took the pass 61 yards for a touchdown as time expired, pushing the Vikings one step closer to being the first team to play a Super Bowl in their home stadium.
