Indianapolis Colts: Training Camp Preview

Will Luck Regain Form?

After missing nine games in 2015 with various injury, most notably a lacerated kidney, the Colts will be regaining the services of quarterback Andrew Luck.

While mini-camps and open practices have been going on for several weeks, the real work begins in training camp drills. Luck’s chemistry with his wide receivers, the newness of his offensive line and his altered style of play due to the injuries will be key to how the Colts go about preparing for the season.

New Offensive Line Chemistry

With several new pieces on the offensive line, including first-round draft pick, center Ryan Kelly out of Alabama, the big thing to watch will be which players play which positions…and whether they remain there or not.

With OL Khaled Holmes released, it appears Kelly is the day one starter at center. Anthony Castonzo and Jack Mewhort will be the veteran anchors on the line. The other two positions, however, are very much up for grabs.

Defensive Backs

Many forget the Colts signed promising young cornerback Patrick Robinson from the San Diego Chargers in the offseason.

The signing is what the Colts hope will be an upgrade over former CB Greg Toler, who signed with the Washington Redskins during the offseason. The Colts also let safety Dwight Lowery walk, choosing to place their confidence in second-year man Clayton Geathers.
