Good News MVP

After suffering a knee injury in the second quarter of Saturday’s preseason home finale against the Philadelphia Eagles, Colts offensive lineman Jack Mewhort was reported to have suffered a season-ending knee injury, via Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

On Sunday afternoon, good news was the MVP as Colts owner Jim Irsay tweeted what was seemingly the best news Colts fans had heard in a long time.

Mewhort’s absence would have been heavily noticed, as the offensive line hasn’t been a strong suit for the Colts since the Manning years. This initial MRI that showed to be just a minor injury proved to be a life saver for the Colts’ hopes of keeping Andrew Luck healthy.

New Face, New Place

The Colts signed former New England Patriots and Detroit Lions running back Stevan Ridley to a one-year deal on Sunday, helping bolster a backfield that has struggled to sport a two-back system since the days of Joseph Addai and Dominic Rhodes.

It remains to be seen where Ridley will fit into the Colts backfield. However, in a preseason that has seen 2nd and 3rd stringers Robert Turbin and Jordan Todman struggle to cement themselves.
