Countdown to Super Bowl LI: Super Bowl XXX

In Super Bowl XXX, two of America’s favorites were at it again, as the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers would go toe-to-toe at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona.

With a total of 76,347 fans in attendance, the Dallas Cowboys would come out on top in Super Bowl XXX, defeating the Steelers by a score of 27-17.

Larry Brown of the Dallas Cowboys was actually the first cornerback to be declared MVP of a Super Bowl game. Brown made quite the impact on Super Bowl XXX, forcing two interceptions by the second half of the game. The Cowboys were starting to get used to the Super Bowl by this point, considering it was their 5th appearance.

The game brought in 94.08 million viewers and was aired on the NBC network. Vanessa Williams sang the National Anthem for Super Bowl XXX and Joe Montana did the coin toss. Montana was most popularly known for being the MVP of prior Super Bowls. The announcers of the game were Dick EnbergPhil Simms and Paul Maguire, and the cost of a 30 second commercial rose quite a bit in 1996, with the total cost being $1.085 million. The halftime show was quite popular for Super Bowl XXX because Diana Ross performed.
