• The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Dallas Cowboys have each participated in eight Super Bowl games, the maximum number of appearances of all the teams. They are closely followed by the New England Patriots, who have seven appearances.
• The Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars and the Houston Texans have never made a Super Bowl appearance. The Kansas City Chiefs have not made an appearance in 43 years, which is the longest “losing” streak for any team.
• The most number of Super Bowl wins, by division, was by the NFC with 25 wins. The AFC only holds 21 wins.
• If unemployment rates mean anything, in the past 20 years 17 Super Bowls have been won by teams that hail from areas which have the lowest unemployment rates. Since Baltimore is currently sporting one of the the lowest unemployment rates of any NFL city, at 7.2%, could they be a repeat Super Bowl team this year?
• Betting is fun, but recent surveys have suggested that up to 92% of people have lost money during Super Bowl betting in the past. You may still want to bet despite those odds, because stats say that as many as 1/3rd of adults in the US bet on the game.
