Lindsay Czarniak served as the MC for the 2014 Super Bowl Players Ultimate Tailgate. Lindsay is the Lead Sports Anchor for ESPN on the 6pm EST Sports Center. When ESPN hired her Lindsay Czarniak was said to be “ESPN’s Katie Couric”.

Lindsay’s role was to introduce the 20+ active NFL Players in attendance at the Players Tailgate and initiate short discussions with them similar to what she does on “pick 6″ the Sports Center weekly show where she features an NFL player. She picks the players mind of NFL players on 3 football related topics and then the NFL player tells 3 things people don’t know about them.

NFL Players that Attended the 2014 Tailgate:

marvin-jones-jr Marvin Jones Jr. (WR, Cincinnati Bengals) - As a second-year wide receiver for the Bengals in 2013, Marvin Jones emerged as a breakout player in Cincinnati. The rising star set a Bengals franchise record on Oct. 27 against the New York Jets for most touchdown receptions in a single game, with four. Jones boasted 10 touchdowns on the season, including several acrobatic and one-handed catches. Jones played collegiately at the University of California at Berkeley.
vonta-leach Vonta Leach (FB, Baltimore Ravens) - Vonta is entering his 11th year in the NFL after being an undrafted free agent out of East Carolina University. He is a 3-time Pro Bowl player and voted as 3-time All-Pro fullback. He was a member of the Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl XLVII Championship team.
eric-berry Eric Berry (SS, Kansas City Chiefs) - Eric was the selected 5th overall in the 2010 NFL draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. He was a two-time All-American and Jack Tatum Trophy winner while playing collegiately at the University of Tennessee. He won the Jim Thorpe Award in 2009 as the best collegiate defensive back in the country. He is a 3-time Pro Bowler and was voted as an All-Pro strong safety in 2013.
brandon-boykin Brandon Boykin (CB, Philadelphia Eagles) - Brandon Boykin emerged as a rising star for the Eagles’ defensive corps in 2013, leading the team and ranking second in the NFL in interceptions (six). A versatile player, he also contributes on special teams as a kickoff and punt returner. Brandon played collegiately at the University of Georgia.
joique-bell Joique Bell (RB, Detroit Lions) - Joique played college football for Wayne State where he won the Harlon Hill Trophy in 2009 as the Division II player of the year. He was an undrafted free agent by the Buffalo Bills in 2010 and has spent the last three seasons with the Detroit Lions.
patrick-chung Patrick Chung (FS, Philadelphia Eagles) - Patrick played college football for the University of Oregon. He just completed his 5th year in the NFL. He was drafted by the New England Patriots in 2009 and joined the Philadelphia Eagles in 2013. He was a starter for the New England Patriots on their Super Bowl XLVI team.
quinton-coples Quinton Coples (OLB, New York Jets) - Quinton was a two-time First-team All-ACC linebacker for the University of North Carolina. He was drafted in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the New York Jets.
antonio-cromartie Antonio Cromartie (CB, New York Jets) - Antonio is widely known as one of the league’s most knowledgeable players, and a true student of the game.  Antonio led the entire league in interceptions in 2007 with 10, has 28 for his career and has been named to three Pro Bowls.  Considered one of the top cover corners in all of football.
damon-harrison Damon Harrison (NT, New York Jets) - Given the unique nickname “Big Snacks” by his coaching staff, Damon went from stocking shelves to becoming an NAIA All-American at William Penn in route to being picked up by the Jets as an undrafted free agent in 2012.  Now, only one year later, Damon has cemented himself as the starting nose tackle, starting all 16 games in 2013, on perhaps the league’s most promising young defensive line.
israel-idonije Israel Idonije (DE, Detroit Lions) - Israel was an undrafted free agent out of the University of Manitoba by Cleveland. He then spent 9 years with the Chicago Bears before joining the Detroit Lions for this past season. Israel led the NFL in blocked punts and field goals in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
cameron-jordan Cameron Jordan (DE, New Orleans Saints) - Cameron was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the 2011 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints out of the University of California at Berkeley. He quickly emerged into a dynamic and powerful defensive end and recently attended his first Pro Bowl in Hawaii, following a career-best season in which he tied for third in the NFL in sacks (15). Cam is the son of NFL legend Steve Jordan, who played in the NFL for 13 years as a tight end with the Minnesota Vikings and was selected to the Pro Bowl six times.
plaxico-burress Plaxico Burress (WR, Pittsburgh Steelers) - Plaxico was the 8th overall player drafted in the 2000 NFL draft out of Michigan State University. He caught the game-winning touchdown pass in Super Bowl XLII. Plaxico is entering his 12th year in the NFL.
mychal-kendricks Mychal Kendricks (LB, Philadelphia Eagles) - Mychal was selected by Philadelphia in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft out of the University of California at Berkeley and just finished his second NFL season. A rising star of the Eagles’ defense, Mychal had a breakout season and led the NFL with four fumble recoveries on top of his 137 tackles and four sacks. His father, Marvin, played football for conference-rival UCLA and briefly on the Eagles’ practice squad. All three of his brothers have or are currently playing college football.
brian-orakpo Brian Orakpo (OLB, Washington Redskins) - A three-time Pro Bowler and former 13th pick overall out of Texas, Brian has established himself as one of the more feared pass rushers in the league.  2013 proved to be the best of Brian’s young 5 year career, racking up 10 sacks, 60 tackles, 2 fumble recoveries, 4 passes defended and his first career interception, which he returned for a touchdown.
justin-pugh Justin Pugh (OL, New York Giants) - The Giants’ top selection in the 2013 NFL Draft, Justin Pugh is coming off of an incredible rookie campaign. He started all 16 games in 2013 and ended the season as the highest-rated first round tackle by Pro Football Focus. Additionally, he was a unanimous First-Team selection to both the PFWA and Sports on Earth All-Rookie Teams. Pugh played collegiately at Syracuse.
antrel-rolle Antrel Rolle (SS, New York Giants) - Antrel was an All-American player for the University of Miami. He was drafted in the first round in the 2005 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. He later was signed by the New York Giants in 2010 and was part of the Giants’ Super Bowl XLVI championship team. He is a 3 time Pro Bowl and 2 time All Pro.
terrell-thomas Terrell Thomas (CB, New York Giants) - The New York Giants picked Terrell in the second round of the 2008 draft. He played college football for the University of Southern California. He was a member of the Super Bowl XLVI Championship team.
calais-campbell Calais Campbell (DE, Arizona Cardinals) - Having already amassed 36.5 sacks over 5 years, Calais has become a dominant pass rusher for one of the NFL’s toughest defenses. He produced his highest single season sack total in 2013 with 9, while also accumulating 58 tackles, a forced fumble and his first career safety.
antonio-pierce1 Antonio Pierce - Former New York Giants’ Super Bowl Champion middle linebacker, is a current NFL analyst for ESPN. The former Pro Bowler appears on NFL Live, SportsCenter, ESPNEWS, and 1050 ESPN New York, and provides weekly analysis on ESPNNewYork.com, ESPN’s home for New York sports news and information. In 2007, Antonio received the “United Way Man of the Year” for his community involvement. Pierce also served as the spokesperson for the Giants Academy inner city youth program in 2006, and he works hard for a number of not-for-profit organizations, including YMCA, DARE, Cystic Fibrosis, My Sisters Place, ASC Football Camp, City Meals on Wheels and Make a Wish Foundation.
damien-woody1 Damien Woody - This two-time NFL Pro Bowl Offensive Lineman and two-time Super Bowl Champion, retired from football following the 2010-11 season. A fearless leader on the field and in the locker room, Damien has made the seamless transition to NFL Analyst, joining ESPN in August 2011. He can be seen on SportsCenter, NFL Live, ESPN2’s First Take and ESPNEWS. A true family man, Damien is a devoted husband to his high school sweetheart and a dedicated father of six children and cherishes them as the backbone to his success on and off the field and believes that his success in football is a gift that he uses to be able to give back. Damien’s foundation, Woody’s Kids is an organization dedicated to helping families with ill children and his generosity has no boundaries.

 

The Super Bowl Players Ultimate Tailgate is a pre-game Super Bowl party that offers celebrity guests, live entertainment, and open premium bar. At the 2014 Tailgate, a five star food menu was prepared by international super chef Marcus Samuelsson.  The name The Players Super Bowl Ultimate Tailgate says it all. This is where the current active players come on Super Bowl Sunday, 20+ current players will be in attendance.

In addition to being a successful cookbook author, Super Bowl Players Ultimate Tailgate Chef Marcus Samuelsson released his New York Times Bestseller and James Beard wining memoir Yes, Chef in 2012 to rave reviews. He has been featured on a number of television shows including Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, the Martha Stewart Show, Today Show, Regis and Kelly and Charlie Rose. He was the winner on Bravo’s Top Chef Masters Season Two and serves as a recurring judge for Chopped, one of Food Network’s highest rated series with a following of over 20 million viewers a month. Marcus was also named the winner of the second season of Chopped All-Stars. Marcus has also been honored as a guest chef at the White House under the Obama Administration.

Guests of the Players Ultimate Tailgate will enjoy a hospitality lounge area lined with private tables and ESPN pre-game coverage on large plasma televisions as they prepare for the Super Bowl in style! They will also be transferred to and from the Super Bowl game at MetLife Stadium by round trip private motor coach.

2014 Players Tailgate Entertainment included Cirque USA, as well as Vy Higginsen’s Harlem Gospel for Teens Choir.  The 2014 event was held at New York’s Gotham Hall.

Vy Higginsen’s Harlem Gospel for Teens Choir / The Harlem Gospel for Teens choir performed for the lighting of the Rockefeller Christmas tree, aired on NBC on December 4th. They performed alongside Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande. Recent performances include performances with MADONNA on NBC’s “Hope For Haiti” telethon, with DIONNE WARWICK, CISSY HOUSTON, CHAKA KHAN and VALERIE SIMPSON.

The Harlem Gospel for Teens program is not just teaching gospel music, it is saving these at risk teens from Harlem. The choir has sang for the likes of Jennifer Hudson, Angela Bassett, Russell Simmons, Forrest Whitaker, Antonio Banderas & Melanie Griffith, Sting and have been featured on CBS television on 60 Minutes.

The 2014 event was held at New York’s Gotham Hall, located in the heart of Times Square and Super Bowl Boulevard. This breathtaking venue features impressive architecture as well as attentive personal service considered one of NYC’s top venues. For a peek at Gotham Hall, take the virtual tour!
